Reading Group:  ‘Imagining Minnette’ with Irushi Tennakoon and Ruhanie Perera

Irushi, artist and educator, and Ruhanie, lecturer in English at the University of Colombo, lead a discussion about Minnette De Silva’s practice of self-documenting. They will also discuss examples of ways in which other creative practitioners remember/imagine Minnette and her practice. The selection of texts includes the puppet of Minnette De Silva by Irushi, which is on display in ‘88 Acres’, selected extracts from the script of ‘is this an architectural documentary?’ (2023), and ‘Plastic Emotions’ by Shiromi Pinto.The texts will be emailed to all participants upon registration, and it is recommended that they read them before attending the Reading Group.This Reading Group is curated and offered as part of public programmes of the MMCA Sri Lanka’s fourth exhibition ‘88 Acres: The Watapuluwa Housing Scheme by Minnette De Silva’'. This programme is free and all materials will be provided. කලාකරු හා අධ්‍යාපනඥ ඉරුෂි සහ, කොළඹ විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ ඉංග්‍රීසි භාෂා කථිකාචාර්ය රුහානි, මිනෙට් ද සිල්වාගේ ස්වයං ලේඛනගත කිරීමේ පරිචය පිළිබඳ සාකච්ඡාවක් මෙහයවයි. ඔවුන් වෙනත් නිර්මාණශීලී වෘත්තිකයන් මිනෙට් සහ ඇගේ පරිචය මතක තබා ගන්නා/මවා ගන්නා ආකාර පිළිබඳ උදාහරණ ද සාකච්ඡා කරයි. කියවීම් එකතුවට ‘අක්කර 88’ ප්‍රදර්ශනයේ සංදර්ශිත ඉරුෂිගේ මිනෙට් ද සිල්වා රූකඩය, ‘is this an architectural documentary?’ (2023) හි පිටපතේ තෝරාගත් උපුටන, සහ ශිරෝමි පින්ටෝගේ ‘Plastic Emotions’ ඇතුළත් වේ.ලියාපදිංචිවූ සියලු ම සහභාගිවන්නන්ට විද්‍යුත් තැපෑලෙන් මෙම කෘති යැවෙනු අතර කියවීමේ කණ්ඩායමට සහභාගී වීමට පෙර ඒ සියල්ල කියවීම නිර්දේශිතයි.මෙම කියවීම් කණ්ඩායම MMCA ශ්‍රී ලංකාහි සිව්වැනි ප්‍රදර්ශනය වන ‘අක්කර 88: මිනෙට් ද සිල්වා විසින් කළ වටපුළුව නිවාස යෝජනා ක්‍රමය’ ප්‍රදර්ශනයේ මහජන වැඩසටහන්වල කොටසක් ලෙස අභිරක්ෂණයකර ඉදිරිපත් කෙරෙයි. මෙම වැඩසටහන නොමිලේවන අතර සියළු ද්‍රව්‍ය සපයනු ලැබේ. கலைஞரும் கல்வியாளருமான இருஷி மற்றும் கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் ஆங்கில விரிவுரையாளராக இருக்கும் ருஹாணி ஆகியோர் மினெட் டி சில்வாவின் சுய-விவரணமாக்கல் பற்றிய கலந்துரையாடலை முன்னெடுப்பார்கள். அத்துடன் மினெட் பற்றியும் அவரது பணி பற்றியும் ஏனைய படைப்பாளிகள் எவ் வழிகளில் நினைவு கூருகிறார்கள்/கற்பனை செய்கிறார்கள் என்பது குறித்தும் அவர்கள் கலந்துரையாடுவார்கள். தெரிவு செய்யப்பட்ட புத்தகங்களில் ‘88 ஏக்கர்கள்’ ல் காட்சிப்படுத்தப்பட்ட இருஷியின் மினெட் டி சில்வா பொம்மை, ‘is this an architectural documentary?’ (2023) மற்றும் ஷிரோமி பின்ற்றோவின் ‘Plastic Emotions’ லிருந்து தெரிவு செய்யப்பட்ட பகுதிகள் உள்ளடங்கும்.வாசிப்புக் குழுவிற்கு பதிவு செய்தவுடன், அனைத்து பங்கேற்பாளர்களுக்கும் இந்த நூல்கள் மின்னஞ்சல் மூலம் அனுப்பி வைக்கப்படும். மேலும், வாசிப்பு குழுவில் கலந்துகொள்வதற்கு முன் அவற்றை வாசிக்குமாறு பரிந்துரைக்கப்படுகிறது.MMCA இலங்கையின் நான்காவது கண்காட்சியான ‘88 ஏக்கர்கள்: மினெட் டி சில்வாவின் வடபுழுவ வீட்டுத் திட்டம்’ மற்றும் இணைத்து இவ் வாசிப்பு குழு உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
