Ceramics Classes with Concho Clay Studio

The Concho Clay Studio offers regular 8 week ceramics classes for adults. This program is part of adult education outreach at SAMFA, all courses are for recreation, and beginners are welcome. Join our clay community!

<h1>Colored Clay Basics</h1>Instructor: Kassie Dilworth, Max Attendance 15May 28 – June 18, Tuesdays 6 pm – 9 pmDESCRIPTION:Learn how to add color to your clay using inclusion and mason stains!  Learn how to add color to dry clay or wet clay, how to layer slabs, wedge swirls, and work Nerikomi style to make simple imagery within a clay loaf. Break down the process of working and making colored clay and grow your clay knowledge in this informative and exciting 4-week class.  SCHEDULE:This class will meet once per week for 3 hours over 4 weeks. <h1>Directions and Policy Details</h1>WHERE TO GO AND WHAT TO BRING:Your class will meet each week at the Concho Clay Studio. We are part of the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, located at 1 Love Street, San Angelo, TX. 76903. Look for our signs outside the studio, our entrance is located to the left of the main museum, up the ramp in the breezeway. Tools are provided for all classes. Please be prepared to pay for clay during your first class. We can accept cash, check, or credit cards for payment. Museum members, seniors, and military get 10% off clay purchases. You can become a museum member online at <a href="https://www.samfa.org/support" title="https://www.samfa.org/support" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.samfa.org/support</a> or in person at the studio. We do not allow outside clay to be brought in for classes, all clay must be purchased here at the studio. OPEN STUDIO ACCESS:If you register for any 4-8 week ceramic class you also get full access to Open Studio hours to work outside of class, while enrolled in a class. Open Studio is not a substitute for class, there is no instruction or demonstrations as there is no instructor available during these hours. Staff will be available for questions or concerns as needed by students and members. Summer Open Studio SCHEDULE:Tuesdays 10 am – 2 pmWednesdays 10 am – 2 pmThursdays 10 am – 2 pmFridays* 10 am – 3 pm &amp; 4 pm – 9 pmSaturdays 10 am – 2 pm Open Studio may occasionally be unavailable or have alternative hours if CCS is offering a Workshop or for Special Events.*Fridays during summer session will vary to accommodate our Teen Clay &amp; Play Movie Nights on May 31, June 14, June 28, and July 12. Open Studio hours for these dates will be from 10 am – 4 pm only. PLEASE NOTE:This class is for adults 18 years or older. Students of 16 years or above may take the course if accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also registered for the class.
