MPDSL Friday Basketball League

The Metro Parks disABILITIES Programs are a collection of recreation-based programs designed for individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental disABILITIES.  Programs include Sports Leagues, Day Programs, Art Programs, Community Events, and more.All funds are collected and distributed by the Friends of Metro Parks disABILITIES & Magic Program.

Metro Parks disABILITIES Programs

Come and join the MPDSL Friday Basketball Leagues.  This league will meet on Fridays from 11:30-2:00 at the McCabe Park Community Center beginning on Friday, January 31st and playing 5 consecutive Fridays until February 28th.  This is a co-ed league, and athletes must be 18 years of age or older with a valid sports physical completed within the last 3 years (Special Olympics Physicals preferred).  Athletes should come wearing athletic shorts and tennis shoes.  We will provide jerseys each week, and will collect and wash them at the end of each game day. 
Practices for the MPDSL Friday Basketball Leagues are held Monday, Wednesday, & Thursdays from 10:00-11:30 and on Tuesdays from 9:15-10:45 at West Park Community Center.  Practices are not required for participation on Fridays, but we encourage all players to attend at least 2 practices each week.  For a complete schedule of practices, please contact Glen Adkins at golden.adkins@nashville.gov. 
We are also looking for volunteers for our Friday Basketball Leagues.  Volunteers are not required to attend every week, and volunteer jobs include scorekeeping, officiating, coaching, and cheering on the participants.

The Metro Parks disABILITIES Sports Leagues are designed for individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental disABILITIES and provide individuals an opportunity to play and compete with athletes of similar ability levels in a safe and fun atmosphere.
