This session is designed to address this gap in understanding by covering a comprehensive array of topics, including: <ol><li>Dispelling common myths surrounding stainless steel.</li><li>Tracing the historical development of stainless steel.</li><li>Providing a clear definition of stainless steel.</li><li>Delving into the chemistry behind stainless steel, focusing on key elemental compositions.</li><li>Exploring its mechanical properties, including ultimate tensile strength (UTS), yield strength (YS), and elongation.</li><li>Analyzing mill test reports (MTRs) for critical insights.</li><li>Categorizing stainless steel into its major groups, delineating their characteristics and applications.</li><li>Detailing various stainless steel grades and their respective attributes.</li><li>Examining the characteristics of austenitic stainless steel, particularly the 300 series.</li><li>Mapping out the "Family Tree" within the 300 series for clarity.</li><li>Discussing different finishes available for stainless steel.</li><li>Evaluating life cycle costs associated with stainless steel deployment.</li><li>Identifying key factors influencing the selection of stainless steel for diverse applications. </li></ol>By systematically addressing these topics, participants will gain a nuanced understanding of stainless steel, empowering them to make informed decisions regarding its specification and utilization in their respective fields.This session will be presented by Scott Haddy, BSc. Scott has over 45 years of sales, marketing, technical and operating leadership experience in the industrial products sector, Scott Haddy has had success in large, highly structured business and in mid-sized entrepreneurially driven companies.Originally from Toronto, Scott graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours B.Sc (Nuclear Physics; Health Sciences) degree.
