On Friday, June 21, Manifest Drawing Center will welcome artist REUBEN NEGRÓN to our Central Parkway facility, where he will be conducting a 3-hour public demonstration of his watercolor technique and process (includes a 30-minute intermission). Reuben will discuss each phase of his painting process while completing a painting in front of the audience. All attendees are encouraged to ask questions throughout the development of the artwork.

The demo is the introductory part of Reuben's latest workshop with Manifest Drawing Center – Light & Dimensionality in Watercolor.

These tickets are specifically for the general public not enrolled in the workshop.

About the Instructor:

Reuben Negrón is an American figurative realist best known for his narrative watercolor paintings and charcoal drawings. He is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, MD, and the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY. His work has been shown internationally with recent exhibitions in Paris, Barcelona, Oslo, and New York. In 2023, Reuben’s work was exhibited at the Museu Europeu d’Art Modern (MEAM) in Barcelona, Spain as part of the Figurativas Bienniel. Reuben’s work has been written about in articles by Cultura Inquieta, La Razón, Cultbytes, Hyperallergic, Juxtapoz, Huffington Post, and featured in the pages of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine. Most recently, his work was included in the Lunar Codex, an archive of art, literature, music and the moving image, which touched down on the Moon’s surface in February of 2024.

Our Drawing Center promotes and explores drawing, photography, and related activities as rich and culturally significant art forms through the pursuit of educational hands-on activities focused on visual literacy, critical thinking, and skill development.

Manifest's new facility, "M1" at 3464 Central Parkway, provides multiple studio classrooms, private lesson space, a darkroom, a film processing room, and a multi-purpose lecture and class meeting space as well as on-site parking, grounds, and exterior spaces in which to relax, discuss, and make art. The studios are outfitted with professional equipment, furniture, and study aids.
