Artist Studio Tour: Brookland and Shaw

Together with local communities, the Anacostia Community Museum illuminates and amplifies our collective power. As our neighborhoods undergo social, economic, and environmental changes that individuals alone cannot address, there is a need for communities to bring toghether their combined knowledge and strengths. As a museum that convenes people and ideas, ACM documents and preserves communities' memories, struggles, and successes, and offers a platform where diverse voices and cultures can be heard.  We believe that bridging disparate parts of the communities can bring collective action to bear on forging a better future together.We envision healthy neighborhoods that are empowered to work together to solve urgent issues. As a trusted and inclusive center, the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum seeks to inspire communities to take action, and is an incubator for the next genenration of civically engaged citizens. By illuminating the intersections of history, culture, and contemporary social issues afffecting DC metro area communities, including where they are in flux across urban/suburban boundaries, ACM uses a local lens to tell stories that resonate nationally and globally.

Catch the museum shuttle for this popular program and visit visual artists, curators, and other creatives in their homes, studios, museums, and galleries. Tour is in conjunction with the exhibition, A Right To The City. The museum bus will leave the museum parking lot promptly at 10am. PLEASE NOTE: Cash and checks will no longer be accepted for this program.If you have not made your online payment, you won&#x27;t be able to ride the bus. A print-out of everyone who has paid will be provided to the museum representative riding the bus on the day of the tour. If your name is not on the print-out, this means you did not register online, and you will not be able to ride the bus. You can however, follow the bus in your own vehicle or meet up with the bus at the selected sites on the agenda.1st Stop: Brookland Arts Walk at Monroe Street Market (625 Monroe Street NE). Stops include The American Poetry Museum &amp; Center for Poetic Thought, Analog, Kicheko Goods, and Latela Curatorial.2nd Stop: STABLE Arts (336 Randolph Place NE). Visit DC&#x27;s newest artist run studio building and gallery. See the studios of Charles Jean Pierre, Nekiesha Durrett, and Shaunte Gates.
