Family Day with Read/ Write Library

Jane Addams Hull-House Museum(JAHHM)draws upon the legacy of international peace activist and feminist, Jane Addams, and other social reformers who worked, alongside their immigrant neighbors, to create social change on the Near West Side of Chicago during the Progressive Era. The Museum preserves and develops the original Hull-House site for the interpretation and continuation of the historic settlement house vision. Exhibitions and public programs elevate histories of activism, progressive education and democratic principles of participation and exchange, and connect them to present-day social justice issues.

Family Days

A collection for all of the family days (past and present) hosted by Hull-House.

The Hull-House Museum is proud to present <a href="https://readwritelibrary.org/" title="https://readwritelibrary.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Read/Write  Library</a>, a pop-up collection of books, comics, journals, zines, and other creative material that celebrates communities across the Chicago area. We invite visitors of all ages to explore the library’s unique collection and consider how work typically left out of libraries and museums can inform our understanding of local history.Come visit Read/Write Library at the Hull-House Museum with stories about your own neighborhood. Bring your friends and chosen family and join us for activities led by Read/Write Library and our pals at the <a href="https://www.creativechirx.org/" title="https://www.creativechirx.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Chicago Creative Reuse Exchange</a>. This event is free and open to the public. Craft supplies, other materials, and snacks are provided.Family Day is a quarterly program that invites Chicago families to spend an activity-filled afternoon at the Hull-House Museum. Each Family Day offers craft-making, guided tours, and other participatory activities that draw on the histories of the Hull-House settlement. Activities are held in the Residents' Dining Hall.
