In Balance Green focusses on emerging trends in energy efficiency and green building technology. These in person events will take place on the morning of May 3 and May 31: presentations will be paired back to back, to allow you to attend 2 conveniently.

In this 3rd installment of our Higher-Performance series, we will look at cost-effective strategies to make tight envelopes standard practice, with special emphasis on thermal continuity and managing moisture. We will finish up with the partner to a tight envelope: balanced ventilation. Learning objectives:• Learn the building science behind thermal bridging and air movement, and the impacts on energy performance, health, and comfort• Learn the application and benefits of rain screens in the central coast climate• Understand options for Insulation and air and vapor barriers and best practices for each• Identify balanced ventilation strategies and the costs and benefits of each. Andy Pease, AIA, LEED AP BD+C:Principal, In Balance Green ConsultingAndy, an Architect and LEED AP, is focused on optimizing green building strategies, including LEED certification and water conservation. She has helped dozens of clients through a green building process using integrated design, daylight and water use analysis and other strategies to maximize efficiency. Jennifer Rennick AIA, CEA:Principal, In Balance Green ConsultingJennifer, an Architect and a Certified Energy Analyst, specializes in energy use optimization, including passive solar design, whole building energy use, zero net energy, and energy modeling and analysis. She consistently helps her clients achieve high energy efficiency, increased occupant comfort, and lower utility costs.
