We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only true guide you will ever have. And if you cannot hear it, you will, all of your life, spend your days on the end of strings that somebody else pulls.”&nbsp; &nbsp; -Howard Thurman</em></em></p><p>Can the systems of oppression be altered without a transformation within ourselves? How can one maintain a soul-directed existence while actively advocating for justice? What underlying commitments guide your daily thoughts and behaviors? This one day workshop will delve into the mystical insights of Howard Thurman and the African American prophetic tradition, providing contemplative strategies and transformative resources for enhancing your capacity to be an agent of personal development and social change.&nbsp;</p><p>Adam Clark, an Associate Professor of Theology at Xavier University, is committed to the idea that theological education in the twenty first century must function as a counter-story. One that equips students to read against the grain of the dominant culture and inspires them to live into the Ignatian dictum of going forth “to set the world on fire.” He currently serves as co-chair of Black Theology Group at the American Academy of Religion, actively publishes in the area of black theology and black religion and participates in social justice groups at Xavier and in the Cincinnati area.</p><p><br></p><h3>Covid Considerations: Masks are currently optional at the Hive. Individuals may choose to wear a mask for personal protection, and as always, we ask anyone who is feeling sick or has a high temperature to not attend until they are recovered.
