A final community gathering for UGAT Sessions. Connecting with Filipino traditions and culture arts for the wellbeing of our communities.

UGAT series centers the diverse experiences of the Filipinx/a/o and Filipinx/a/o-American identified folks and honors the communities and relatives we love and love us back. This is one of the ways to re/connect with ancestral roots through movement, language, traditions, storysharing and community as we navigate what it means to heal oneself in the now, and how it honors the ancestors before and forward.In this final gathering, there will be an ancestral knowledge sharing of the Philippine healing art called Hilot. Community members will be performing the Malong dance that they've learned in the series. There will also be a live demo of Kali Martial Arts from a local collective, Austin Pinay Movement. We will also hold community conversations surrounding the healing and wellbeing of the Filipina/x/o in the diaspora. This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department
