WBEZ Presents: Not From Here with Eunji Kim

Known primarily for the nation’s longest running independent comedy show (The Lincoln Lodge) we also produce special events, help others organizations to raise money with comedy events and offer classes (Feminine Comique and Stand-Up Seminary) to encourage more community participation in stand-up comedy.  We have been very successful at nurturing local talent and can point to a long line of alumni like Hannibal Burress, Kyle Kinane, T.J. Miller, Pete Holmes and Cameron Esposito who all got their start at The Lodge. Our reputation for professionalism, talent and integrity means organizations such as Just for Laughs and Comedy Central have invited us to collaborate with them.

The Lincoln Lodge

A variety comedy show featuring the stories, struggles, and process of immigrants and their families building a relationship with America.

It’s not easy being the kid with “stinky” packed lunches or parents who wear jeans to exercise. When you’re an immigrant kid, life can feel like a bizarre balancing act between two or more totally different cultures. Not From Here with Eunji Kim celebrates the joys, pains and idiosyncrasies of immigrant families as they move through life in the U.S. together. Guest storytellers will unpack their funniest memories of culture shock, reflecting on their families’ perseverance and revealing the beauty in growing up differently. Eunji Kim is a comedian and writer based in Chicago. She was a Senior Writer for Cards Against Humanity and can be seen performing stand-up at The Lincoln Lodge, Laugh Factory and all sorts of bars. She was a 2017 Bob Curry Fellow at Second City and a featured performer in the 2017 NBCUniversal Break Out Festival. She also co-hosts the 2 Kims 1 Pod Podcast (@2kims1pod) with fellow Korean comedian, Peter Kim (@Peterkz). Her TV credits include: Best In Dough (Hulu), Chicago Fire (NBC), Chicago Med (NBC) and Work In Progress (Showtime).
