The New York Public Library has reopened all available branches. As of July 6, this location offers nearly full service, including general library use and seating, unlimited browsing, computer access, and more. This event will take place over Zoom. In partnership with Image Comics, join Pelham Parkway-Van Nest in conversation with female comic book writers as they share their distinct perspectives working in the comic book industry,relating their expertise and the action that is needed to appreciate and acknowledge female comic creators.This event takes place online so registration is required. Alison Sampson is an award winning, London-based artist, Her work for Image Comics includes contributions to the 2023 Eisner-nominated DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH with James Tynion IV; HIT-GIRL: INDIA, with Peter Milligan; co-creating WINNEBAGO GRAVEYARD, with Steve Niles, the graphic novella GENESIS, as well as a range of covers and graphics for such acclaimed series as THE WICKED + THE DIVINE, LOVE EVERLASTING, ECHOLANDS, ALL AGAINST ALL and more. Elsewhere her work can be found in the fields of horror (HELLBOY for Dark Horse, WEREWOLF BY NIGHT for Marvel), fantasy (SLEEPING BEAUTIES vols 1 &amp; 2 for IDW with Stephen and Owen King) and in the 2023 multi-Eisner nominated LITTLE EARTHQUAKES anthology with Tori Amos for Z2, which is also her writing debut. Alison is currently working on two upcoming Image projects, REDACTED and REDACTED and covers for REDACTED. More announcements can be expected in 2023.

Chrissy Williams is a UK-based writer and comic book editor best known forher work on DIE, THE WICKED + THE DIVINE and SUPERFREAKS. She editedan anthology of poetry comics called OVER THE LINE with UK artist TomHumberstone (about which Alan Moore said “I really can’t recommend thisventure highly enough”). She is also a published poet, and her first collectionwas one of THE TELEGRAPH’s 50 Best Books of the Year. Her debut Image Comics series with all-female creative teammates Lauren Knight, Sofie Dodgson, Becca Carey, and Joamette Gil is titled GOLDEN RAGE.

Genevieve Valentine is the author of Mechanique: A Tale of the Circus Tresaulti (2012 Crawford Award), The Girls at the Kingfisher Club, Persona, and Icon. She has written Catwoman for DC Comics, and is the co-creator of TWO GRAVES, alongside Ming Doyle and Annie Wu, for Image Comics. Her short stories have appeared in over a dozen Best of the Year anthologies, including Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy. Her cultural criticism has appeared at NPR.org, The AV Club, LA Review of Books, Vice, Vox, and The New York Times, among others."
