Sunset Photography Tour

At 2,200 acres, Freshkills Park will be almost three times the size of Central Park and the largest park developed in New York City in over 100 years. Free tours offer insights into ongoing development and unmatched views, and recreational programs provide opportunities to experience the hills and waterways before the park officially opens.

Capture the breathtaking beauty of Freshkills park on our photography tour!

Join a small group of photographers and document Freshkills Park’s transformation from landfill to 2,200-acre park. This guided tour is an opportunity to see and photograph the unique engineered landscape while the site is closed to the public. We welcome photographers of all skill levels, but you must bring your own equipment, whether a digital camera, film camera, or your phone!Donation: This tour is donation-based and we suggest a $10 donation per participant, but we understand everyone is in a different position to give and thank you for whatever you can. Your donation supports the education, programming, and research at the Freshkills Park Alliance and makes programs like this possible.Registration: Your ticket admits 1 car. All participants must provide their own car that will stay on-site the whole time. Participants may not use a bicycle, taxi or ride-share service due to ongoing construction. During registration you will be asked about additional participants in your car. Due to limited reservations, carpooling with friends and family is encouraged.Accessibility: This tour will drive and stop at several spots in the park with minimal walking. The roads themselves can be uneven at times. If you have any accessibility needs, please let us know in advance so we can best accommodate you.Plan Ahead: Be “tick aware” and “weather aware.” Wear appropriate clothing, including close-toed shoes and sunscreen. Stay hydrated and make sure to bring water with you. All participants will be asked to sign an activity waiver before entering the park. Those under 18 need to have the waiver signed by a parent or guardian and be accompanied by an adult.Location: We will meet underneath the solar panel at the North Park Phase 1 Parking Lot located at 350 Wild Ave. From here, we will drive into the park together.
