The Rhode Island Black Film Festival is Southern New England’s only festival focused on the culture and historical contributions of Black people and people of African descent. RIBFF creates opportunities for understanding the culture and social justice issues effecting pepole of color. Films that focus on overcoming adversity to civil rights issues themed films and facilitated discussions. Our last festival ran from April 14--17, 2023. Our festival is viewed in person and virtually. . More than 25 short and feature length films selected from submissions from across the the United States and from countries from around the world. This year’s festival promises to expand its reach, attendance and impact. Agenda

Senior and Retirees are invited to join us for coffee, danish and a film in the Donald Farish Auditorium, 3rd. Film shorts from film local and national filmmakers. In 2020 the Minneapolis North High School football team battled to win a championship amid school closures due to the COVID pandemic, the death of George Floyd, and the resulting riots that set a community on edge and their neighborhood on fire. Even though their coaches, a group of dedicated police officers, were considered to be persona non grata in the city of Minneapolis, the Polar players, a team of predominantly African American student-athletes.
