Beginning Darkroom w/ Cennady

Youth in Focus (YiF) is Seattle-based nonprofit equipping the next generation of creative thinkers to meet the emerging needs of our global society. We believe in the power of photography. But even more than that, we believe in our youth. That's why we approach photography as a means of curiosity, exploration, and self-discovery. We create a safe, inclusive community, teach photography at no cost (or pay-what-you-can), and provide mentorship for South Seattle teens.

Youth in Focus

This class runs every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 PM  -  7:00 PM,  April 16th  -  June 6th,  at the Youth in Focus Office.

Learn how to photograph, develop and print black and white film with Cennady Coleman. Become versed in using a film camera, a light meter and various composition techniques. Dig into hands-on techniques for making photograms, small and large prints, adjusting contrast and brightness. We will be learning the rules of the darkroom and then breaking them!* If you've taken 2 or more Darkroom classes, please register for Intermediate Darkroom. All Youth in Focus programs are FREE, and we provide free bus passes if needed. All supplies and equipment are provided. We are committed to equitable arts access for ALL youth ages 13-19 years old!If you would like to donate, your donation helps cover the cost of our amazing art educators, equipment, and program space!
