In the post AB705 era, the broadening scope of students’ experiences, knowledge, and academic preparation has led to questions surrounding institutional and course standards. In this course we will explore the relationship between course rigor and equitable classroom practices. This class will help educators understand the various needs of their incoming students and design curriculum that supports the social and emotional dimensions of learning while building communication/literacy, quantitative reasoning and critical thinking skills. This course provides participants the time and opportunity to explore external student support strategies that can help student performance within their classrooms as well as instructional strategies that provide a strong foundation for student learning.
