NC State's 2020 MLK, Jr. Campus Commemoration: Ibram X. Kendi

The African American Cultural Center is one of four campus community centers (along with the GLBT Center, Multicultural Student Affairs, and the Women’s Center) housed under the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED). The African American Cultural Center promotes awareness of and appreciation for African American and other African descent experiences through activities and events that enhance academic excellence and strengthen cultural competence for the campus and surrounding communities.

NC State’s 2020 MLK, Jr. Campus Commemoration will bring National Book Award Winner Ibram X. Kendi to Stewart Theatre 1/13/20 from 1:30-3pm.

<p>Kendi is professor and founding director of the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University and a 2016 National Book Award Winner for Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America. His newest book, How to Be an Antiracist, examines racial inequalities from many vantage points, including the personal, the social and the academic. As a thought leader in racial equity and antiracism, Kendi presents a framework in which people or ideas are either racist or antiracist and looks to the future, exploring what a racially just America could look like.</p>
