Heather Houston is a Santa Cruz-based song leader, choral director, recording artist, and vocal empowerment coach with over 30 years of experience in uplifting hearts and building community through the power of song. Founder of the Yala Lati Women’s Choir and creator of the Sisters in Harmony Retreats, Heather leads transformative singing experiences both in person and online, including at venues like Esalen, Sivananda Bahamas, and 1440 Multiversity. Her music, rooted in themes of healing, unity, and connection with nature, is sung by communities worldwide and can be found in her online song library and on all major streaming platforms.

Maitreya Retreat

<h3>Maitreya is an oasis in our sweet little city of Santa Cruz.</h3> <h3>It was modeled after the Japanese Bath House. Their vision is of a place where people can come to cleanse and rejuvenate their minds and bodies as well as nurture themselves through social interaction in a natural garden setting.</h3> <h3>Come soak in the healing waters and sing with your sisters in song!</h3> Clothing Optional:<ul><li>This is a clothing optional event while in and around the tubs / sauna.</li><li>Please dress to your own level of comfort.</li><li>Clothing required for community activities in the garden space.</li></ul> Bring:<ul><li>a warm layer for our opening circle on the lawn</li><li>two towels - one for tubs and one for shower (none will be provided)</li><li>a robe if desired</li><li>water bottle</li><li>snacks (we will provide some light snacks like nuts and fruit</li><li>a song to share IF you want to share one - not at all required</li><li>and item for the collective altar (if you feel inspired) this could be something of seasonal beauty, or an item that represents an area of your life that desires your love and attenion.</li></ul> Evening Flow:<ul><li>6:00 - 7:00 - Free time</li><li>7:00 - 7:30 - Opening circle on the lawn</li><li>7:30 - 8:00 - Group sing in the tubs</li><li>8:00 - 9:00 - Facilitated Round Robin in the tubs(bring a song to share if you'd like)</li><li>Smaller circles can spontaneously emmerge in other locations as well (ie the sauna, the fireplace gazebo, the lawn, etc.)</li><li>9:00 - 10:00 - Free time</li></ul>We expect between 30 and 50 women to attend. There will be times when we are singing all together, and there will be smaller circles happening throughout the gardens as well. Everyone is welcome to share songs. Her music honors the beautiful multidimensionality of the human experience and invites her listeners to feel right along with her. Sarah draws inspiration from both her inner and outer landscapes, spinning lyrical metaphors that point to the parallels between the cycles of nature and life.
