This event is one of our top fundraisers and an integral part of the APF’s mission. The ANCHOR Program Fund, Inc. directly benefits the children and adults who attend Camp ANCHOR.
The Town of Hempstead’s Camp ANCHOR (Answering the Needs of Citizens with Handicaps through Organized Recreation) is a year-round recreation program operated by the Town of Hempstead, acting through its Department of Parks & Recreation. The program is dedicated to children and adults with special needs who reside in the Town of Hempstead. The Town of Hempstead's Camp ANCHOR Program provides programs after school and on Saturdays in various locations throughout the township during the fall, winter, and spring. A six-week summer day camp program located in Lido Beach serves over 700 children and adults with special needs.
The ANCHOR Program Fund, Inc. is a nonprofit charity, exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The mission of the Fund is to provide special activities, special programs, supplies and equipment that enhance the ANCHOR program experience for its participants.
