Spring 2024 Obedience Class Session

TheObedience Club of Corpus Christiwas established in 1964To disseminate knowledge regarding dog training and to promote training of all dogs.To hold and support performance events under the rules of the AKC and other dog organizations.To conduct classes for the training of dogs and their handlers and to provide an opportunity for members to practice with their dogs in preparation for entry of such dogs in performance events.To promote cooperation and good sportsmanship among its members in the training and exhibition of dogs.To meet our mission, we hold obedience classes, which are open to the public and we hold 2 obedience trials each year.

Obedience Club of Corpus Christi

9-week Dog Training Class session starts March 19th.  Tuesdays 7-8pm through May 14th.

Classes Offerings and Requirements:<ol><li>S TAR Puppy - Open to puppies under 1 year of age (as of May 14th), MUST have completed all vaccinations by Mar 26th. Follows AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy curriculum, AKC STAR Puppy certificate.</li><li>Beginning Obedience - Open to all dogs with complete vaccinations, follows AKC Canine Good Citizen curriculum and includes the test for AKC CGC title.</li><li>Intermediate Obedience / Rally - Open to dogs who have completed Beginning Obedience and earned a CGC title or equivalent. Skills required (consistent): sit, down, stand, stay, heel. Class instructor will move any dogs not ready to the Beginning class. Includes AKC Community Canine testing.</li></ol>General Information<ul><li>Purebred and mixed breed dogs are welcome in all our classes.</li><li>Classes are taught using positive reinforcement with toys, treats, play, and praise.</li><li>Sessions consist of 9 weeks, Basic Obedience will have CGC on the 9th week and Intermediate Obedience / Rally will have CGCA testing after the 9th week (scheduled by instructor).</li><li>S.T.A.R. Puppy will be 9 weeks and includes fun puppy activities and introduction to dog sports. They may choose to take the CGC on week 9 for those who are ready.</li><li>Fee for nine classes is $125.00. Use promo code RESCUE for $10.00 off if you are registering with a rescue dog.</li><li>We meet at the Coastlife Credit Union in Corpus Christi, located at 6810 Saratoga Blvd. between Airline and Rodd Field. (Training area is located behind the credit union where the drive-through lanes are.)</li><li>For safety reasons, a slip or martingale type collar is required on all dogs.</li></ul>
