Whether it is simple to push basks, not listening, demanding attention or being defiant. This session will go deeper and take a closer look at the important role of the educator/clinician as they lay the foundation of the young developing brain between birth- 5 years of age. Participants will learn strategies to help manage challenging and disruptive behaviors displayed in their classrooms by gaining a better understanding of what brain states are in action (Survival, Emotional or Executive), what the children are trying to communicate through their behaviors while chasing the “why” behind the behavior. Participants will leave this session with practical and effective “tricks” to apply immediately in their classrooms or 1-on-1 sessions.</h3><h3><br></h3><h2>Objectives:</h2><h3>The participants will be able to…</h3><h3>1. Describe the importance of the three brain states</h3><h3>2. Explain the specific behaviors associated with each of the brain states</h3><h3>3. Explain specific strategies to meet the needs of the children associated with the brain states</h3><h3><br></h3><h2><br></h2><h2>Cancellation Policy:</h2><h3>If you cancel within 30 days before the event, the registration fee is not refundable. However, you will receive a credit for the registration fee which can be applied to another Young Child Learning event within the following 12 months. The processing fee is non-refundable.</h3><h2><br></h2><h2>Speaker's Bio</h2><h3>Prerna Richards is a devoted early childhood education consultant with 38 years of experience, driven by a heartfelt mission to enhance the world for children. As a nationally and internationally recognized keynote speaker, Prerna has inspired thousands of educators through impactful workshops. Five years ago, she founded "Together We Grow," a platform offering professional development, behavior coaching, and NAEYC consulting, aiming to empower educators. Guided by the belief that knowing better leads to doing better, Prerna's philosophy centers on play and social-emotional development. Personally, she's a loving mother and grandmother, deeply rooted in spirituality, which fuels her commitment to making a difference. In 2020, Prerna's outstanding contributions earned her the Susan Hargrave Trainer of the Year Award from TXAEYC, a testament to her dedication and excellence in early childhood education.</h3><p><br></p><h3><br></h3><h2>Host's Bio</h2><h3>Dr. Mesh is a clinical psychologist and the co-author of the book “Early Childhood Assessment: A Practical Guide to Psychological and Developmental Evaluations in the Early Intervention Program.” He has worked with families for over 30 years. Dr. Mesh is the Co-Founder and CEO of Los Niños Services, an award-winning Early Childhood Special Education program in New York City, and the Founder of Young Child Learning which provides professional development to teachers and all professionals working with young children. He consults with professionals and parents on the challenges they face in helping young children achieve their full potential.
