Lecture outline: The abilities to design, raise, and close the flap are critical in the execution of a variety of surgical procedures. This presentation will focus on defining treatment objectives and then seeking flap design that best meets these objectives. Common topics such as basic biologically-driven surgical principles, clinical errors, and proper armamentarium will also be reviewed. Flap design and execution for implant dentistry and prevention of complications will be particularly emphasized. Speaker bio: David Chvartszaid is both a Prosthodontist and a Periodontist. He is the director of the Graduate Prosthodontics Program at the University of Toronto and the dentist-in-chief at Baycrest Hospital.
