This workshop is taught by the 4 designers of the Morocco Design Exchange organized by Qatar Museums. It will explore the traditional Moroccan craft of wood painting. Wood paintings of intricate Moroccan patterns and drawings are hand painted in some of Morocco’s grandest architecture, such as Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca.

Having learned the technique on their exchange to Morocco, the 4 designers will introduce participants to methods introduced to them by a master artisan in Fes.

Participants will have the opportunity to go through the required steps and paint a Moroccan pattern onto a wooden board. Each participant will create their individual board which they can take with them at the end of the session.

Please choose one of the two workshop days when registering.
