The Overdose Prevention Engagement Network (OPEN) is dedicated to developing a preventative approach to the opioid epidemic  by tailoring postoperative and acute care opioid prescribing.

OPEN: Overdose Prevention Engagement Network

During May 2020–April 2021, the estimated number of drug overdose deaths in the United States exceeded 100,000 over a 12-month period for the first time. Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), like Buprenorphine, methadone, and naltrexone have been proven to reduce overdose and death and providers that hold a DEA license with Schedule III Authority can prescribe Buprenorphine. Ensuring prescribers have the knowledge to initiate MOUD is imperative to helping patients with opioid use disorder. Q&amp;A and discussion to follow. Financial Incentive:BCBSM will provide a $250 incentive to Primary Care Providers (Physicians and Advanced Practice Professionals) who attend this MOUD training.
