"Vent" Diagrams for Nonprofits: Equity in Data Community of Practice

We are a group of data users in Connecticut who are supporting one another as we work toward more equitable data practices.

In this interactive session, we will explore the concept of "vent" diagrams— a tool that helps us explore the seemingly contradictory ideas that show up in our mission-driven work. Using examples with a focus on data and technology, we’ll dive into statements like “We don’t have the time to learn more data and tech skills” vs. “Technology is always changing, and we need to keep pace with it.” Through collaborative exercises, we will practice creating purpose statements that bridge these contradictions. Using this method, we will find actionable, purpose-driven solutions that balance both sides of the dilemma. This session will be led by Emily Hicks-Rotella, Nonprofit Data &amp; Tech Strategist at Make Tech Work For You. About this group:We are a group of data users in Connecticut who are supporting one another as we work toward more equitable data practices.
