Sky Island Alliance is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization working throughout southeastern Arizona (US) and northern Sonora (MX). Learn how to navigate to springs in the wilderness!

Join Sky Island Alliance staff for an evening at its Tucson office getting ready for upcoming volunteer trips to visit springs within wilderness areas of the Coronado National Forest. Topics covered will include: reading maps and satellite images, navigation aides on desktop computers and smartphones, making tracks and reading elevations and contours on maps, planning backcountry vs. trail walks, etc. With these skills, you’ll be ready to volunteer with confidence.Participants should bring a smartphone and a laptop if they have one, or access will be given to the desktop computers in the office. Also, please bring a water bottle or any snacks/dinner you would want to eat.
