Reading Group: ‘The Architectural Method of Minnette De Silva’  with Tariq Jazeel

In this Reading Group meant for architects and non-architects alike, Tariq Jazeel, Professor of Human Geography at the University College London, UK will lead a discussion onanalyse the architectural method of Minnette De Silva (1918–1998) and architectural method. The selection of texts includes ‘Conservative Surgery’ (1947) by Patrick Geddes (1854–1932), ‘Architecture’s Expanded Field’ (2004) by Anthony Vidler (1941–2023), and ‘CIAM (Congress Internationals D’Architecture Moderne)’ section in ‘The Life and Work of an Asian Woman Architect’ (1998) by Minnette De Silva. The texts will be emailed to all participants upon registration, and it is recommended that they read them before attending the Reading Group. This Reading Group is curated and offered as part of public programmes of the MMCA Sri Lanka’s fourth exhibition ‘88 Acres: The Watapuluwa Housing Scheme by Minnette De Silva’'.
