Angela Merlano is a dancer and performer from Denver. Having experience teaching for MSU Denver’s belly dance class, she loves seeing how the art of Raks Sharqi can transform someone in confidence and grace. She studies and performs other forms including ballet, jazz, Colombian folkloric, and modern dance.”

Tyreis Hunte is an interdisciplinary artist and creative director from the multicultural nation of Guyana, South America. Their work is embedded in the understanding and the connections of global indigenous cultures and their embodied philosophies. Tyreis is also keen on the historic as well as contemporary contributions of street culture in our societies. They are grateful to have exchanged with communities across the globe including and not limited to China, the Philippines, Italy, the Netherlands and throughout South America and the Caribbean. These collaborations have led them to present their work with the likes of bodies of these communities such as the Rennie Harris University, Royal Family of Norway, and the 2023 ACDA National Dance Festival in Long Beach, California.

DINA ESCOVEDOOriginally from Los Angeles, Dina grew up dancing on cheer squads, jazz teams, and song leading teams. She was introduced to salsa dancing at the age of 15 and fell in love with the music, partner connection, and styling. At 18, she began teaching L.A. style salsa at community venues and nightclubs in L.A. and the Inland Empire.Dina’s passion for dance expanded as she fulfilled her childhood dream of being a professional ballroom dancer at the age of 21, focusing on Latin Dances. Shortly after, she joined salsa teams and performed at multiple congresses and festivals on the west coast.Dina made her way to Denver in January 2014 and has been part of the Denver Salsa Community ever since. She is the director and choreographer of her all-ladies salsa team, Ix Chel Dance Company. When she’s not in Denver, she can be found salsa dancing all over the states!Ix Chel Dance Company Director: Dina Escobedo Est.: October 2022 Ix Chel Dance Co. is a Denver-based ladies salsa team bringing multi-level performers together to celebrate and embrace the feminine performing art of salsa dancing! The salsera dance team is led by L.A. style dancer, Dina Escobedo, who chose the Mayan Moon Goddess name, Ix Chel, who represents women and femininity.
