<p>The DBT STEPS-E curriculum is currently in development with likely publication in Fall 2024. We are excited to offer this elementary training to past participants of the DBT STEPS-A Implementation Training. <strong><strong>Please note **a prerequisite for this training is the DBT STEPS-A Implementation training.** Participants must take the 3 Day DBT STEPS-A training prior to this course as the elementary course assumes a basic level of familiarity that is gained through the 3 Day DBT STEPS-A training.</strong></strong></p><p><br></p><h3>This is a private event sponsored by Prevention Action Alliance - Ohio and is intended for teachers and mental health staff working with students in Ohio only. <h2>Course Overview</h2><p>DBT Skills in Schools: Skills Training for Emotional Problem Solving for Elementary (DBT STEPS-E) is in development. The STEPS-E curriculum is a universal social emotional learning (SEL) curriculum designed for elementary students in educational settings. </p><p>The DBT STEPS-E curriculum is being designed to help children develop coping strategies and decision-making abilities under emotional distress. The DBT STEPS-E curriculum is based on the skills of comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) that have shown to be effective with both adults and adolescents experiencing mild to severe levels of emotional and behavioral difficulties. This curriculum is adapted from DBT STEPS-A and is currently in development. </p><p>The training design of the DBT STEPS-E curriculum is to establish four basic elements necessary in implementing the curriculum effectively: </p><p> 1. Background and Development of the DBT STEPS-E curriculum </p><p> 2. Structure and Implementation Considerations</p><p> 3. Overview and demonstration of DBT STEPS-E lessons </p><p> 4. Preparation and participant practice of teaching DBT STEPS-E lessons </p>

<h2>Learning Objectives</h2><p>1.	Understand the development of and rationale for the DBT STEPS-E curriculum in elementary schools.</p><p>2.	Understand the sequence of the curriculum and how it can be adapted to fit my setting. </p><p>3.	Understand how  to prepare and deliver SEL lessons to classroom and small group settings. </p><p>4.	Understand how to use a DBT STEPS-E diary card as a progress monitoring tool with students in the classroom setting.</p><p>5.   Participants will learn how to lead students through a mindfulness exercise and process relevance of the exercise  with students. </p><p>6.	Participants will understand and practice the teaching of one crisis survival skill.</p><p>7.	Participants will understand and practice the teaching of the Model of Emotions from the emotion regulation module.</p><p>8.	Participants will understand and practice the teaching of one skill  from the interpersonal effectiveness module.</p><p>9.  Identify and address the common barriers to effective implementation.</p>

<p>DBT in Schools, LLC will provide registered participants with the Zoom link and additional training materials at least one week prior to the start date. </p>

<h2>CE Hours</h2><ul><li>This activity is pending approval from the National Association of Social Workers.</li></ul><ul><li>DBT in Schools, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7064. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. DBT in Schools, LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.</li><li>Participants attending the entire training may receive a certificate for 11 CE Hours.</li></ul><ul><li>Participants may obtain OCSWMFT or OCDPB hours through Prevention Action Alliance. PAA will ask you to complete a survey and may also offer partial hours for individuals that do not have full attendance.</li></ul>
