The DRT Brain Love Foundation, Inc. invites you to join us for a FREE mental health sharing event to learn about aging and maintaining independence. Join us Monday, February 26th at 6 pm EST at the L.A. Lee YMCA/Mizell Community Center in Historic Sistrunk, Fort Lauderdale's oldest African American community also known as, "The Heart and Soul of the City''. With aging often comes a loss of independence, which can result in a shift of identity. This can feel challenging for an older person, so National Senior Independence Month opens the door to conversations on how to thrive instead of just surviving. This recognized month was founded in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan. It is a time to share resources in communities and learn more about how to help elderly adults live more independently. Independent living impacts health, social interaction, and general feelings of fulfillment in life.Located in the heart of Fort Lauderdale, our venue provides a cozy and relaxed atmosphere that sets the perfect stage for an unforgettable evening. We begin with a happy hour that includes dinner catered by Tropic Gourment. DRT Brain Love Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Mental Health Foundation created in 2018 by Dr. Delvena. The foundation raises money to help fill in the gap financially so that new patients can access mental health care and established patients who experience a financial challenge may continue to access care. This is a fundraising event. Please feel free to donate to our foundation. We also have sponsorship opportunities and vending space.
