Ex-Votos Virtual Tour with Gallery 400 and JAHHM

Jane Addams Hull-House Museum(JAHHM)draws upon the legacy of international peace activist and feminist, Jane Addams, and other social reformers who worked, alongside their immigrant neighbors, to create social change on the Near West Side of Chicago during the Progressive Era. The Museum preserves and develops the original Hull-House site for the interpretation and continuation of the historic settlement house vision. Exhibitions and public programs elevate histories of activism, progressive education and democratic principles of participation and exchange, and connect them to present-day social justice issues.

Join us for a virtual tour of the exhibition "Contemporary Ex-Votos: Devotion Beyond Medium".

Wednesday, February 28, 2024&nbsp;1:00-2:30 p.m. CTZoom Join Gallery 400, the Jane Addams-Hull House Museum, and the UIC Disability Cultural Center (DCC) for a virtual tour of Contemporary Ex-Votos: Devotion Beyond Medium. Led by curator Dr. Emmanuel Ortega and DCC Director Margaret Fink, the tour explores ex-votos, a type of small devotional painting created as a testament of gratitude. Exhibited across Gallery 400 and the Jane Addams-Hull House Museum, Contemporary Ex-Votos combines 19th and 20th-century ex-votos with works by contemporary Latinx artists who explore devotion and resilience in their creative practice.
