Edgar B. Hollis Distinguished Author Series

The Edgar B. Hollis Distinguished Authors Series began at the Carnegie in 2012. We are proud to bring these notable authors to Newnan and Coweta County.

<p>Join the Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation as we welcome author Lawrence Reed to the Carnegie for the Edgar B. Hollis Distinguished Author Series. In a multimedia presentation, Mr. Reed will explain Poland’s history of courage and character as well as the events that led the Polish government to recognize him with the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. He will share stories of his time with the Polish underground that led to his arrest and expulsion by the communist government in 1986. The talk will include profiles of some incredible Polish heroes whose lives continue to inspire people all over the world. Registration is required. Doors will open at 6:00 pm with book signing to follow talk.</p><p>Economist and historian Lawrence W. Reed is president emeritus of the Foundation for Economic Education, headquartered in Atlanta, GA. His work has taken him to 87 countries on six continents, where he has met with world leaders and reported on hyperinflations, underground movements, civil wars, and political repression. In November 2023 in Warsaw, the President of Poland bestowed upon him the highest honor that country gives to a foreigner for his assistance to Poles resisting communism in the 1980s and for his work to advance the country’s transition to freedom and free markets in the years since.</p>
