In 2022, when Beast Masters Club visited L'Encantada's headquarters in Vic-Fezensac, France, we had an incredible night tasting Armagnac with Vincent Cornu. We tasted dozens of Domaines and vintages from all over the Gascony region. The depth and quality of his cask collection is absolutely unparalleled in the world. At the end of the night Vincent shared one final pour. "Only for friends," he commented as he pulled out one of the darkest bottles of Armagnac I'd ever seen. It was a 39 year old Lous Mouracs cask and it absolutely blew my mind. The complexity of it, the wild layers of flavor, the incredible and obvious maturity of this bottle had all my spirit senses pulsing long after we returned across the pond. A year later, this past fall, we welcomed Vincent to Beast Masters Club here in NYC. It was the first time he would do a live public barrel pick in the states and we were all excited. I had been chatting with him in the months approaching the event, sending him pics of my favorite barrels and tastes from the night - some old Pibous and Lassalle, a few of the lesser known Domaines we tasted, and of course my absolute dream cask, the old Mouracs. When Vincent arrived, there was an unmistakeable glimmer in his eye and a mischevious grin peaking out under his signature black beret. When we started the barrel picking and he unvelied the very first cask, there it was. A 41 year old Mouracs! I was immediately giddy. The same dark mysterious juice only two years OLDER! As soon as the room tasted it, everyone was immediately obsessed. While the other three casks we sampled were amazing, this was the winner. As we say the "cry yourself to sleep bottle," because that's what happens if you miss out! Well after a long wait it's finally here! And we're pulling out all the stops to celebrate one of our most special barrels ever.
