Our 7th Interstellar Symposium will be taking place September 25-27, 2021 (with pre-symposium seminars taking place on the 24th) in Tucson.

The symposium will be hosted by the University of Arizona in Tucson. The event will include a wealth of speakers, working tracks, seminars, tours, a reception on Friday night, and an award banquet on Saturday night (both included with registration). Please be sure to explore the "add-on" options to register for seminars, working tracks, and tours!

The 2021 Symposium will include keynote addresses by three notable speakers:Esther Dyson is a well-known writer, speaker, investor, and entrepreneur. Beyond that, she is a trained cosmonaut: she spent six months (2008-2009) training as backup to space tourist Charles Simonyi in Star City outside Moscow. Dr. Mark Shelhamer is a renowned expert in the area of vestibular and oculomotor adaptation. From 2013 to 2016 he was on leave from his academic position to serve as NASA’s Chief Scientist for human research at the Johnson Space Center.Dr. Abraham (Avi) Loeb is the Frank B. Baird, Jr., Professor of Science at Harvard University. He serves as Chair of the Board on Physics and Astronomy of the National Academies and is an elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts &amp; Sciences, the American Physical Society, and the International Academy of Astronautics. General Admission registration allows one individual to participate in all symposium activities on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, including selected meals, the opening reception, and the awards banquet. It excludes optional tours and Friday seminars. Use of a discounted "members only" promo code requires a current Student/Senior or Professional individual IRG membership or a corporate IRG membership under the same email address. COVID-19 UpdateThe 7th Interstellar Symposium is being hosted by the University of Arizona in Tucson. Events will take place in university buildings as well as commercial buildings (such as the Marriott) nearby.The University has updated its COVID-19 protocols to comply with Section 15-1650.05 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, which prohibits public universities from requiring COVID-19 vaccination or from imposing mandatory COVID-19 testing and use of face coverings based on vaccination status.In accordance with the new Arizona statute, the University will continue to strongly encourage, but not require, that all members of our campus community be vaccinated. The symposium will follow University of Arizona policy regarding face masks, which are to be worn in all indoor locations where it is not possible to adequately and continuously maintain social distance.
