Join us in one of our hands-on courses that will teach you the foundational skills needed to construct simple textile items including home goods and apparel. Our classes are  perfect for the aspiring sewist who is curious to try sewing or the self-taught sewist who would like to increase their knowledge and technical skill set!

Rightfully Sewn (Interim Location)

Skill level: Intermediate/AdvancedPrerequisite skills: Must have taken a beginner sewing class with us at Rightfully Sewn or have one year prior sewing experience.In this intermediate class, you will learn how to cut and sew a satin nightgown, on the bias. This will require techniques that advanced sewist are looking to learn along with a refresher on the basics.Only 4 places!Students will work on Janome HD-3000 and School Mate 7330 straight-stitch home sewing machines and Janome and Babylock home sergers.Students will: <ul><li>Brush up on basic techniques to create sewn products, including how to pin and cut fabric and order of operations for construction;</li><li>Receive education on more advanced techniques,</li><li>Learn to sew on slippery fabric;</li><li>Learn how to cut &amp; sew on the bias of fabric,</li><li>Learn how to create a baby hem by machine;</li><li>Learn hand basting and hand sewn finishes.</li><li></li></ul>All sewing tools will be provided by Rightfully Sewn Academy and it's donors in order to promote and encourage a sustainable future in the fashion industry. Students are welcome to bring their own sewing kit, if they wish. This class will have a shopping list that will be sent out via email upon class purchase. This class is taught by Academy Instructor &amp; local designer, Camille Alexandria.
