ciclo y ciclo is a celebration of Sixty Inches From Center’s first book, <a href="https://forthebirdstrappedinairports.shop/products/pre-order-chicago-artists-archives-project-case-studies-in-collaboration" title="https://forthebirdstrappedinairports.shop/products/pre-order-chicago-artists-archives-project-case-studies-in-collaboration" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Chicago Archives + Artists Project: Case Studies in Collaboration!</a>This event features DePaul Art Museum's Collections Manager David Maruzella and multidisciplinary artist Natasha Mijares, one of the archive + artist pairings commissioned for the publication. A poetry reading/performance by Natasha Mijares will be followed by a conversation between Natasha, David Maruzella and artist Dianna Frid, whose work was a touchstone for Mijares's research within DPAM's collection. Book co-editor Kate Hadley Toftness will moderate the discussion. The event and reception are free and open to the public.Prior to the event, David Maruzzella will lead a special, behind-the-scenes tour focusing on DPAM's collection of works by Latinx artists. The tour begins at 2:00 PM and is limited to 20 guests. The event and reception are free and open to the public.---The book Chicago Archives + Artists Project: Case Studies in Collaboration serves as a site for new archive-inspired explorations, a directory of Chicago-based archives and collections, and a printed space where past artists, archivists, librarians, curators, and other collaborators can reflect on 5+ years of the Chicago Archives + Artists Project.David Maruzzella is the Collection and Exhibition Manager at DePaul Art Museum in Chicago, IL. He was educated at New York University, the École normale supérieure in Paris, and at DePaul University, where he received his PhD in philosophy in 2021. He writes and translatess texts about the history of philosophy, contemporary art, psychoanalysis, and other topics.Natasha Mijares is an artist, writer, curator, and educator. Her debut collection of poetry, violent wave, is published by PANK Books. She received her MFA in Writing from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has exhibited at various international and national galleries. Her work has appeared in Gravity of the Thing, Hypertext Review, Calamity, Vinyl Poetry, and more.
