Earn your adult mental health first aid certification in just two sessions!

In this certification course, you will learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help. You will learn how to apply the Mental Health First Aid action plan in a variety of situations, including when someone is experiencing panic attacks, suicidal thoughts or behaviors, nonsuicidal self-injury, acute psychosis, overdose or withdrawal from alcohol or drug use, etc. The opportunity to practice — through role plays, scenarios, and activities — makes it easier to apply these skills in a real-life situation. Speaker Bio:John V. Rider, PhD, MS, OTR/L, MSCS, is an Associate Professor at Touro University Nevada and has been teaching Mental Health First Aid for four years. Course Details:2-Part Live Presentation via Zoom (must attend both sessions) Part 1: 2/1/24 from 6-9:00 PM Part 2: 2/8/24 from 6-9:00 PM CEUs: 7.5 Cost: $65 for ArizOTA Members/$80 for Non-Members Registration deadline: Thursday, January 25th at 12:00 PM After registering, please look for an email from the instructor, John Rider (<a href="mailto:jrider@touro.edu" title="mailto:jrider@touro.edu" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">jrider@touro.edu</a>). He will provide you with additional registration information, instructions for completing 1.5 hours of prework material, and Zoom information. Course Objectives:1. Evaluate the impact of early intervention on mental health challenges. 2. Apply the appropriate steps of the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan to a scenario where a person shows early signs of a mental health challenge, where a person shows worsening signs of a mental health challenge, and where a person shows signs of a mental health crisis. 3. Choose appropriate methods for self-care following the application of Mental Health First Aid.
