Whether you want to communicate more effectively across differences, align behaviors with beliefs, or help others address belonging, this session can equip you—from the front desk to the corner office—to design environments that foster a sense of belonging.We encourage you to bring a colleague with you. This session will help you move from cautious to courageous when you have to lead a conversation through the lens of building a more equitable, diverse and inclusive culture.Prior participants have given this session high marks for providing a psychologically safe environment that increased their ability to leverage the power of differences in the workplace. You will learn to lead more effectively with new skill sets based on the action steps shared in this session and go beyond raising awareness to taking meaningful action to create more inclusive work and volunteer environments.Funding for this training was provided by a grant from the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC).---About the facilitator:Karen Bond is a recognized leader in organizational development, training, and change management, with over 20 years of experience in management consulting and leadership across the non-profit sector. She brings to her consulting practice added executive coaching capacity and a depth of experience in helping organizations link strategy, structure, leadership, and talent to fulfill their mission objectives. Karen’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) experience and her training background also support clients on their own DEI journeys.Karen spent 13 years at the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, leading a national and international team. She was known as a trusted leader, advisor, and coach adept at guiding leaders and teams through authentic change. Her contributions to Hopkins include introducing a paperless enrollment process, a networked organizational model to drive continuous collaboration, improvement, and empowerment in partnership with communities, and rebuilding the Center’s learning and evaluation function to align with community-driven outcomes. She was recognized by “The Daily Record” as Innovator of the Year for one of the complex partnerships she led at Hopkins.Clients include the National Association of Independent Schools, the Maryland Banking Association, The Madeira School, and other nonprofit organizations. Karen is a Hopkins Fellow in Organizational Development. She holds an undergraduate degree in English and Political Science. She has her graduate degree in Applied Behavioral Science and Organizational Development.

Workshop

Lunch from Light House Bistro will be provided to all attendees registered for this event.  Light House Bistro is a social enterprise in Annapolis, Maryland giving people with employment barriers the opportunity to learn while developing a resume and earning a living wage.
