"Ukraine's Bjork" Mariana Sadovska is a folk song collector, vocalist, actress, composer, indefatigable activist for a free Ukraine, and one of Kitka's most beloved mentors and collaborators. Join Kitka and Mariana for a short performance of polyphonic songs from Ukraine, a brief presentation about the humanitarian aid work that Mariana and Leleka Foundation are doing on the ground in Ukraine, and a participatory community sing in which Mariana will teach a selection of soulful Ukrainian songs in luscious multi-part harmony. Born in Lviv, Mariana Sadovska's international artistic activities include solo concerts as a vocalist, actress, multi-instrumentalist, and multi-media performance artist as well as work as a composer and music director of dramatic works, and leadership of Ukrainian choirs and vocal workshops. She finds essential inspiration in the traditional music of Ukraine and Eastern Europe, which she explores in depth to create innovative sonic landscapes . The past becomes contemporary and the regional universal in her trailblazing and heartfelt performances. Sadovska has appeared on stages in Ukraine, the USA, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Great Britain, Estonia, Poland, Armenia, Afghanistan, Turkey, Israel, and beyond. All profits from this event will benefit Warm Up Ukraine, a project of the <a href="https://www.leleka.care/" title="https://www.leleka.care/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Leleka Foundation</a>. Leleka helps front-line medical professionals save lives in Ukraine. PARKING NOTES: Street parking is available and free on Sunday.
