First Annual Mid-Winter Fundraising Gala

T﻿he Friends of the Soldiers Home is a 501 (c)(3) organization serving to strengthen the bond between the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, DC and the surrounding community.  Through service, education, and engagement, Friends of the Soldiers Home connects citizens and veterans in a relationship that recognizes the sacrifice of military service and enhances the quality of life for veterans and citizens alike.T﻿he event organizer, Sherman Lacey, is the Fundraising Coordinator for the Friends of the Soldiers Home. He is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and served as a seagoing officer aboard five Coast Guard Cutters, including command of the USCGC VIGILANT (WMEC 617), before retiring from active duty as a Captain. While on active duty, Sherman also served as the maritime advisor to the U.S. Fifth Fleet and Coalition Forces in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as the Coast Guard’s Liaison to U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, where he worked extensively with the Pacific Island Nations and treaty partners in Southeast Asia.

Donations may also be made at the event, and a donation of $15 or more includes a craft beer or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice. Welcome to the The Friends of the Soldiers Home **First Annual Mid-Winter Fundraising Gala**! Join us for an evening of live music, community, and philanthropy at City-State Brewing on **Sat, Jan 13, 2024, from 5pm - 10pm**.Through community events and monthly engagements with the residents of the Armed Forces Retirement Home, the Friends of the Soldiers Home (FOSH) is a non-profit, serving to strengthen the bond between the Armed Forces Retirement Home and the surrounding community.At our First Annual Mid-Winter Fundraising Gala, live music will be provided by <a href="https://bialeksmusic.com/portfolio/guitarist-daniel/" title="https://bialeksmusic.com/portfolio/guitarist-daniel/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Daniel Roberts</a> from 6pm - 8pm. Any donation is greatly appreciated&nbsp;and a donation of $15 or more, made through Eventbrite, will include a City-State craft beer or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice.&nbsp; City-State has also generously agreed to donate a portion of the proceeds, from a selection of drink&nbsp;purchases, toward supporting FOSH's work with the Soldiers Home.Mark your calendars and join us at the **First Annual Mid-Winter Fundraising Gala**.
