Workshop to  learn and explore ways parents and Early Years Educators can build relationships for children with additional needs.

Who is it for?For parents of children with additional needs and disabilities and Early Years EducatorsWhat is it about?This November is the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. To coincide with this anniversary we are having presentations and discussions to explore the role of education and therapy in the early years. We will also explore the role of the parent in their child’s Early Years Education and Early Intervention and explore ways parents and Early Years Educators can build relationships in the context of the early years and early intervention. We will share knowledge about the importance of relationships in supporting children with additional needs and disabilities.Who is facilitating the event?Dr. Clare Carroll and Dr. Miriam TwomeyClare is a Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy at NUI Galway. She is a registered speech and language therapist with a wealth of clinical experience. Her research interests include team working practices, communication disability and the participation of children, young people with disabilities and their families in research and practice. Miriam is an Assistant Professor in Early Intervention at the Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities (TCPID) at the School of Education, Trinity College Dublin. She has a background in teaching and research in the ﬁelds of early intervention, autism spectrum disorders and intellectual and neurodevelopmental disabilities. Cost: 15 euro payable on the day to cover catering costs.
