<h3>An Intimate Night of Jazz in the Heart of Stowe</h3>The Brass Lantern Inn and Firefly Productions bring you ‘Jazz at the Lantern’ a genuine, small jazz club style experience, once a month, in Stowe, Vermont. Join us for our 2nd installment in 2024 with Bill Pierce of the Jazz Messengers. Reserve a table, order charcuterie or bruschetta and a bottle of wine to enjoy the musicians up close, mingle in the Inn's lounges with its comfy couches and roaring fire. Your admission includes delicious complementary desserts and a cash bar is available. <h3>About the Performers</h3>Saxophonist Bill Pierce is a legendary figure in the world of jazz, having been a member of both the Jazz Messengers led by Art Blakey, and a member of the famous Tony Williams Quintet of the late 80’s and early 90’s. Bill has toured internationally and is on numerous recordings as sideman and leader, also recording with Kevin Eubanks and Geoff Keezer. Bill is a retired head of the woodwind department at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and maintains a busy touring schedule.Mr. Pierce will be accompanied by pianist Tom Cleary who has appeared on recordings by artists including bassist Mike Gordon (with whom he toured between 2008 and 2014), guitarists Paul Asbell and George Petit, trombonist Rick Davies and flutist Patricia Julien. His work as a composer, pianist and arranger was featured on You Are Here, the debut album by the jazz quartet Birdcode, which he co-lead with vocalist Amber deLaurentis, and on deLaurentis' solo album Innocent Road. Cleary teaches at UVM, coordinates the Flynn Arts jazz program and teaches private lessons in his home studio.On bass, Jeremy Hill of Waterbury is arguably one of the most sought-after and busiest bassists on the Vermont jazz scene playing regularly with Ray Vega, the Alex Stewart Quintet, and Bruce Sklar. Jeremy’s aim is to swing hard, and help his fellow musicians sound their best.On percussion, Gabe Jarrett. Gabe began playing music at age 5 and was performing by 12. Gabe studied drum-set composition at the New School Jazz program in New York City, and studied with Charlie Persip and Bob Gullotti. Among others, Gabe has played with Peter Apfelbaum, Joe Lovano, Mike Gordon, Page McConnell, Will Bernard, Marco Benevento, along with touring internationally. When at home in Vermont, Gabe teaches music percussion at The University of Vermont, Northern Vermont University, and Saint Michael's College. <h4>Parking at the Inn is limited, so we suggest parking at the Shaw’s Grocery next door (please avoid the dock area).</h4>
