Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory | DNA Learning Center

The Earth is approximately 4.6 billion years old. DNA is thought to date back to 4 billion. Since then all the diversity of life on our planet has been shaped to fit this ever-changing world. What are some of the forces driving these changes? Come and explore some of the secrets behind theories of natural selection to understand how organisms may have evolved to survive.In this session, participants will:<ul><li>demonstrate how selection and different selective pressures can drive evolution;</li><li>“become the predators” to understand the role of prey selection and survival of the fittest; and</li><li>discuss theories behind the development of the “human branch” of the “tree of life.”</li></ul>Ages 10-13 with one adult chaperone 18 or older required. Chaperones must purchase a ticket and fully participate in all program activities.
