With the narrative style of a Ben Folds or a Randy Newman, Matthew crafts moving stories about unique characters in vivid environments with compelling struggles. "Empathy comes first for me as a songwriter. My ultimate goal is to connect with people on an emotional level. If I can write a song that brings even one person to a deeper understanding of something they’ve been through, be it joyful, humorous, angry or sorrowful, I’ve done my job.” Matthew has toured extensively in the Midwest and Southeast, drawing audiences with his stellar piano playing and emotionally sincere lyrics. He has appeared several times on WBKO’s midday show in Bowling Green KY, performed shows with #1 songwriters Jimmy Payne and Craig Morgan and has opened for Sister Hazel as part of Clarksville’s annual music festival Riverfest.
