What is Kwanzaa?

Kwanzaa is an annual celebration of African-American culture from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1, culminating in a communal feast called Karamu, usually on the sixth day. It was created by activist Maulana Karenga, based on African harvest festival traditions from various parts of West and Southeast Africa.

Yes, this event is everyone in the Monterey Bay Area! No matter culture or ethnicity...all are welcome!

Do I have to cook something to attend?

No! Bringing food for the community potluck is completely optional.

Is there a dress code?

Accepted Answer

No. Please don't dress in African attire (unless you're African, of course). This is a come as you are event. We're not interested in you "dressing" the part. We're interested in you "being" a part of. this amazing experience!
