Maple Sugaring, From Past to Present

In 1917, CCE of Columbia County and CCE of Greene County were established in their respective counties. Consolidated in 2012, CCE of Columbia and Greene Counties has continued to respond to the needs of local residents with unbiased, research-based information, tools, and education that people have come to depend on and trust. Our programs are developed in direct response to community input, and are based on the most current information available from Cornell and other Land Grant universities from across the nation.

Agroforestry Resource Center

<p>Join us at CCE Columbia Greene’s Agroforestry Resource Center during our Maple Festival on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024, to explore the wonderful world of maple sugar! CCE and Wild Hudson Valley will take participants on a journey from the past to the present. Learn about the historical practices of maple sugaring, experience current methods to collect sap, see maple processing equipment in action, taste sap straight from the tree, and take home a tapping kit of your own.
