Founded in 2016,Feminist Bird Clubis dedicated to promoting inclusivity in birding while fundraising and providing a safe opportunity for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC, and women to connect with the natural world. Since then, the Feminist Bird Club has expanded to chapters across North America and in the Netherlands.Our goal is two-fold: Make birding and the outdoors inclusive and affirming to people who may not have safe access to it, and leverage people’s passion for the environment and social justice to help create lasting social change. More simply put: There is no reason why we can’t celebrate birds and support our most cherished beliefs in equity and justice at the same time. For us, it’s not either/or.

It’s Weird Duck Time! Join Sophie Barno and FBC NYC for some quality winter duck and gull peepin’ at Baisley Pond Park. Martha and Jeana will be on hand for duck serenades and other comic relief. Baisley Pond Park is one of the best places in NYC to get good close looks at Redhead and Ring-necked Duck, plus we’ll also see Northern Shoveler, American Wigeon, Ruddy Duck, Gadwall, Mallard, American Coot, Ring-billed Gull, and more!&nbsp; Binoculars are available to borrow on request, just let us know if you need a pair. Date: Sunday December 10Time: 9am to 11amMeet: Parking lot off Baisley Blvd, directly across the street from August Martin High School Accessibility: We will be walking almost exclusively on flat paved paths. We will cover approximately one mile walking the pond perimeter path. The park has two bathrooms, one of which seems to be open year-round. Park benches are available at various spots along the route. Registration required as space is limited. We will check you in when we all arrive.
