L.O.R.(Ladies of Restaurants) is a UK-based initiative supporting women who work in the hospitality industry.We’re a club, a union, a forum - part saloon, part salon. Individually, we make the F&B business run; collectively, we make sure women get a fair shake. We host panel talks, training sessions, dinner parties and sometimes just a good old-fashioned knees up. We work to make the female culture in the industry better.We believe working in hospitality is fu**ing great,and something to be proud of.- L.O.R.

L.O.R tackles a biggie - harssment, in all its myriad shapes.

So what actually is harassment? We can identify the really bad stuff. But what about all of the smaller incidents we brush off as ‘banter’? When harassment takes the form of bullying and demeaning management tactics, it can make going to work a chore, much less a punishment. Then there’s sexual harassment - how can we handle difficult situations, and how can we put into place practices that make our workplaces and the industry as a whole a safer, happier place for our teams? Lot’s of big, important questions that urgently need asking. We’ll be raising these issues and more in our L.O.R In Conversation event, ’Handling Harassment’. We’ll discuss the psychology of shame, how we can better empower women to speak up when something is not right, and what tools are out there to help you if you have been a victim of harassment. Helping us delve into the topic is a panel of leading hospitality females: Emma Ross from The Comptoir in Mayfair Victoria Stewart, Founder of Hospitality SpeaksCynthia Shanmugalingam, Founder of Rambutan Anna Sulan Masing, Founder of A Meeting PlaceWe’ll be hosted by the wonderful Dishoom, and will enjoy one of their famous breakfasts at their Shoreditch cafe. Tickets are £16 and include breakfast and an L.O.R t-shirt.
