The New Year season awakens our senses in many ways. Let’s kick up the season with winter cultural experiences. This class will guide us to create Chabana ( 茶花: Japanese Tea Ceremony floral arrangement ) celebrating New Years with willow branches and a small winter blossom highlights the season with a beauty of simplicity. This class also makes Japanese one of traditional New Year decoration Mochibana (餅花, もちばな: rice cake flower), using white and pink colored mochi wrapped around willow branches to simulate blossoms. The seasonal sweets will be served with a bowl of matcha. Chabana (茶花, literally "tea flowers") is the arrangement of seasonal flowers for a Japanese tea ceremony. Displayed in the tokonoma alcove along with other key thematic elements for the gathering, the chabana style appeals to those who prefer a simple, natural look in their creation. While ikebana and other styles of floral arrangement prescribe their own distinct frameworks, chabana recognizes and transfers the essence of field to vase.

A bout the Artist<a href="https://www.eunyoungsebazco.com/" title="https://www.eunyoungsebazco.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">EunYoung Sebazco</a> practiced Landscape Architecture from Japan. She has extended her career as a professional Horticulturist and Landscape Designer for the last 20 years in New York. EunYoung is honored to present a Patio Garden Design category at the <a href="https://phsonline.org/the-flower-show/press/news/2022-phs-philadelphia-flower-show-location-date-and-theme-are-announced" title="https://phsonline.org/the-flower-show/press/news/2022-phs-philadelphia-flower-show-location-date-and-theme-are-announced" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Philadelphia Flower Show 2022</a> which is the country's oldest, largest, and most prestigious celebration of flowers. She has been practicing the Japanese Tea ceremony for the last 9 years.
