Concert by Candlelight: A Holiday Hammered Dulcimer Concert at Oak Hill

Oak Hill Cemetery, located on 22 acres along Rock Creek in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC, was established in 1849 on land contributed by W.W. Corcoran, founder of the Riggs National Bank and the Corcoran Gallery of Art. The grounds were laid out by Captain George F. de la Roche in the style of a garden park cemetery. James Renwick, Jr., designed the Cemetery’s stone gates and its Historic Chapel, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its significance as the only known example of the architect’s Gothic Revival Church Design in the city. Finely crafted sculptures, cenotaphs, mausolea, headstones, and historic monuments embellish the natural landscape. Oak Hill Cemetery is accredited as a Level I Arboretum.

Please join us as we ring in the season with a hammered dulcimer concert by candlelight in Oak Hill's historic Renwick Chapel. The program will feature renowned performer Stephen Humphries as he makes his Washington debut here in Georgetown. He will play a medley of both seasonal favorites and those appropriate for the winter season, and will open the evening with a brief talk about the history of this instrument which dates back over a millennium.All proceeds benefit the Oak Hill Preservation Foundation.Date: Saturday, December 2Time: 7:00 pm (concert will be approximately one hour)Location: Oak Hill Cemetery's Renwick ChapelTicket Price: $50.00
